Butter Fried Rice

Trying my best to have rice for lunch everyday for my kids. I guess rice will keep them full until tea time rather than having buns or noodles.

This butter rice is very fragrant and goes very well with rendang chicken or beef. :P ( Eating it alone is not bad either )

Both my kids finished the whole pot, leaving nothing for their mummy!

Recipe adapted from Food.com with some modifications.

Ingredients :

3 cups of rice
2 tbsp butter
1 egg
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp minced shallot
1 star anise
1/2 tsp salt or to taste

Method :

Preheat a non stick wok and add in butter till melted ( medium heat )
Add in garlic and shallots and saute till fragrant

Add in star anise and saute for another minute

Add in rice and mix everything up till well combined
Stir fry the rice for about 3 minutes

Make a hole in the middle of rice and add in egg

Mix the egg with rice till well combined and stir fry for another 5 to 8 minutes.
( Till the rice smells fragrant and a bit dry )
Add salt to taste.

Dish up and serve.
